Steve’s Story

The Steve Forsyth Memorial Fund was created to honor Steve after he was tragically killed in a senseless shooting in the Clackamas Town Center Mall in Portland, OR in 2012.

Steve was a beloved husband, dad, brother, the fun uncle, friend to many some say ‘life of the party and a youth coach in the West Linn community. Most of all, he was an all around great guy who is missed by all who knew him! His upbeat supportive personality was infectious and he always tried to encourage others to be the best versions of themselves.

Our Mission

The Steve Forsyth Memorial Fund commemorates Steve’s values of perseverance, a passion for self improvement and his ‘can do’ attitude. Our mission is to empower like-minded young people with opportunity and compassion.

How We Help

Higher Education Scholarships

We award need-based educational scholarships each year to West Linn High School seniors to accredited vocational trade schools, community colleges and 4-year universities.

As we continue to honor Steve’s legacy in our community, we grant several $2,500 needs-based scholarships to deserving West Linn High School seniors to continue their higher education. Past recipients have come from varying backgrounds and challenges – the common thread is their desire to be the best version of themselves and continue down their own path to success.

Good Deeds Day: Dec 11

Good Deeds Day was created to reframe the anniversary of Steve’s tragic passing on December 11, 2012. Help us honor Steve in a positive way by performing a good deed in your local community.

Additionally, we accept donations to provide Christmas gifts to the homeless children at the Community Transitional School.

Recipient Stories

Brandon’s Story

“Receiving this scholarship meant a lot to me. On a personal level, it was very meaningful due to my love and admiration of the Forsyth family and what Steve’s spirit meant to so many people in this community. On a financial level, it helped me to graduate without student loans. I’m proud to say that I signed title paperwork and became a HOME OWNER today!
